FZONE Aquarium Root Tabs — All-in-One Slow-Release Plant Fertilizer (56 Tabs)

Targeted root nutrition for planted tanks — balanced NPK + micronutrients, copper-free, safe for fish and shrimp

Give your rooted plants the feeding they actually need — right at the roots. FZONE Aquarium Root Tabs are all-in-one, slow-release fertilizer tablets that you push into the substrate, where they deliver a balanced blend of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and essential micronutrients directly to plant roots for 2–3 months per dose. The result: stronger roots, brighter and faster-growing plants, and a healthier tank. Because the nutrition stays in the substrate instead of dissolving into the water column, they're copper-free and completely safe for fish, shrimp, and snails — with minimal impact on water quality and less fuel for algae. Ideal for swords, crypts, Vallisneria, bulb plants, carpets, and every other root-feeding plant.

HOW TO USE: Using planting tweezers or your fingers, push one tab deep into the substrate at the base of each root-feeding plant — as far down as possible so it stays buried. For planted sections or carpets, space tabs every 5–6 inches in a grid pattern. Replace every 2–3 months, or as plant growth indicates. That's it — no daily dosing, no mess.

AT A GLANCE

📦 Quantity 56 tabs (same total weight as old 80-tab version)
⏱️ Duration Slow release, 2–3 months per tab
🧪 Formula NPK + S, Mg, B, Mn, Zn micronutrients
🦐 Safety Copper-free — fish, shrimp & snail safe
💧 Water quality Substrate-targeted — minimal water impact
🗓️ Shelf life 5 years (store dry, room temperature)

ELEMENT COMPOSITION

Element % Element %
N (Nitrogen) 3.50% S (Sulfur) 2.82%
P₂O₅ (Phosphorus) 2.50% Mn (Manganese) 0.16%
K₂O (Potassium) 11% Zn (Zinc) 0.01%
B (Boron) 0.01% MgO (Magnesium) 0.50%

NPK ratio ≈ 1 : 0.3: 2.6 — deliberately low in N & P and high in K, supporting strong plant growth while keeping water quality stable and giving algae less to feed on. S + Mg support chlorophyll and photosynthesis; B, Mn, and Zn drive root growth and healthy metabolism.

CUSTOMER QUESTIONS ANSWERED

(Q) Are these safe for my shrimp, snails, and sensitive fish?

= Yes — this is one of the formula's key design points. These tabs are copper-free (copper is the ingredient in some fertilizers that's toxic to shrimp and snails), so they're safe for freshwater shrimp, snails, and fish. And because they're buried in the substrate and release slowly at the roots rather than dissolving into the water column, they have minimal impact on your water quality and parameters. The NPK ratio is also deliberately low in nitrogen and phosphorus and high in potassium — feeding plants strongly while giving algae as little as possible to work with. Push them deep so they stay buried, and your livestock won't be affected.

(Q) Which plants need root tabs, and which don't?

= Root tabs are for root-feeding plants — the ones that draw nutrition through their roots in the substrate. That includes sword plants (Amazon, Red Flame, chain swords), Cryptocoryne, Vallisneria, bulb plants (lotus, lilies, Aponogeton, Crinum), Sagittaria, and carpeting plants like hairgrass and Micro Sword — for all of these, a root tab at the base is the single biggest upgrade you can make to their growth and color. Plants that feed mainly from the water column — floaters like Hornwort, and epiphytes like Anubias, Java Fern, and Bucephalandra mounted on hardscape — don't need root tabs (use a liquid fertilizer for those instead). Many tanks benefit from both: tabs in the substrate for rooted plants, liquid for everything else.

(Q) How many do I use, how often, and how long does one box last?

= Place one tab at the base of each root-feeding plant, or space tabs every 5–6 inches in a grid across planted areas — pushing each as deep into the substrate as possible. Each tab releases nutrients slowly for 2–3 months, so you only re-dose a few times a year. With 56 tabs per box (the same total fertilizer weight as the previous 80-tab version — each tab is simply larger now), a single box covers a typical planted tank for many months to a year or more, depending on tank size and plant density. Store the jar dry at room temperature; shelf life is 5 years.
