At 10W, it doesn't have the output to heat a 5- or 10-gallon tank; in a larger volume, it will run non-stop and still struggle to hold temperature. If your tank is bigger than a gallon or two, choose a higher-wattage heater sized to the volume.
2. Is the whole thing waterproof? Can I fully submerge it?
= Only the probe. The heating probe is submersible and should sit fully underwater. The in-line control module (the box with the display and SET button) and the USB connector are not waterproof and must stay dry above the waterline. Getting the controller wet can damage it and create a shock hazard.
3. How do I set the temperature, and how precise is it?
= Press the SET button to raise the target one degree Fahrenheit at a time, anywhere from 64°F to 93°F. The thermostat then holds that target and the LED shows the live water temperature. The indicator light is red while heating and turns green once the water reaches your set point.
4. What do E1 and H1 mean on the display?
